NAPLES, Italy -- Mr. Joseph Bartow Stubbs Jr., 66, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 1998, in Augusta.
The funeral will be at 12:15 p.m. Monday at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Augusta, with the Rev. Miguel Grave de Peralta officiating. Burial will be in Summerville Cemetery, Augusta.
Mr. Stubbs, a native of Douglas, Ga., was a graduate of Emory University and the University of Beirut, where he directed the American Studies program. He was a linguistics teacher and taught English as a second language in Switzerland, Italy, Saudi Arabia and Iran. He had been a professor of English at the University of Naples Medical School for 18 years. He was a Navy veteran and a musician.
Survivors include his mother, Marjorie Frier Stubbs, Augusta; a brother, William Frier Stubbs, Seattle; and a sister, Maxime Stubbs Warlick, Augusta.
Pallbearers will be William Byrd Warlick, William Frier Stubbs, Joseph Faulkner Warlick and Gino Marsico.
Platt's Funeral Home, Crawford Avenue, Augusta, is in charge of arrangements.
