VIDALIA, Ga. -- Mr. Edward Leroy Garrett, 70, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 1998, at Fairview Park Hospital, Dublin.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Assembly of God. Burial will be in Pinecrest Cemetery.
Mr. Garrett, a native of Cherokee County, had lived in Vidalia for 34 years. He was manager of Farmer's Furniture, where he was a member of the Chairman's Club and the President's Club and was a three-time Manager of the Year. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a charter member and former pastor of the Faith Assembly of God, Lyons, and a member of the Gideons International, Vidalia Camp.
Survivors include his wife, Sara Garrett; five sons, Robert Garrett, Dublin, Doyle Garrett, Baxley, Joel Garrett, Newnan, Ralph Garrett, Lyons, Kenneth Garrett, Kalamazoo, Mich., and Phillip Garrett, Laurel, Md.; two daughters, Laraine Johnson, Sylvester, and Kim Sharpe, Louisville; eight brothers, Thomas Garrett, James A. Garrett, Lamar Garrett, Ray Garrett and Randall Garrett, all of Dublin, Robert Garrett, McRae, R.L. Garrett, Cordele, and Raymond Garrett, Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Katie Kea and Oretha Warren, both of Dublin; and 10 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Murchison Funeral Home.
