ALLENDALE, S.C. -- Mr. Willie James Edwards, 64, of Route 1, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Beautiful Gate Baptist Church with the Rev. Sidney Williams officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Edwards, a native of Augusta, owned Edwards Paint and Body Shop. He was a member of the Adopt-A-Highway Program, a member of Allendale Masonic Lodge No. 53 where he sang in the choral group, and a life member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. He was a member of Beautiful Gate Baptist Church where he served on the deacon board and sang in the male chorus.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Allen Edwards; eight daughters, Joyce Aldrich, Joanne Farris, Pamela Farris and Wanda Neal, all of Allendale, Menia Edwards, San Diego, Mary Jane Sims, Blackville, Tricia Edwards, Chicago, and Martha Edwards, Augusta; a brother, Frank Edwards Jr., Augusta; a sister, Minnie Edwards, Allendale; and 32 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 8 to 9 p.m. today at Cave Funeral Service.
