SWAINSBORO, Ga. -- Mr. Thomas W. Sammons, 71, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at Candler County Hospital.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bennie Brinson and William Bishop officiating.
Mr. Sammons, a native of East Point, was a retired pharmacist from the Carl Vinson Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Dublin. He was the former owner of the Swainsboro Drug Company and worked in the pharmacy of Central State Hospital. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Sammons was a graduate of the University of Georgia. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, a Mason, and a former member of the Swainsboro Jaycees and Swainsboro Country Club.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy George Sammons; one son, Wayne Sammons, Swainsboro; one brother, Kenneth Sammons, Bellville; and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the East Georgia College Foundation.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary.
