NORTH AUGUSTA -- Mr. Howard A. Deer Sr., 75, of 442 Hickory Drive, died Tuesday, July 21, 1998.
The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Sweetwater Baptist Church with the Rev. Eleazer Benenhaley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Deer, a native of Sycamore, S.C., was a retired truck driver from Chemical Leman Truck Lines and Gulf Oil Company. He served as an airplane mechanic in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church, where he was a member of the R.A. Dukes Sunday School Class.
The family said Mr. Deer was dedicated to his wife, always there for his children, adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved his church family.
Survivors include his wife, Mary W. Deer; two sons, Charles W. Deer, and Howard A. Deer Jr., both of North Augusta; one daughter, Hope Williams, Atlanta; one brother, Dallas S. Deer Jr., Mount Pleasant, S.C.; one sister, Mary Mellichamp, Mount Pleasant; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Deer, Brandon Deer, Johnny Fulmer, Kevin Brown, Ian Fleming, Carl Mosley, Travis Bell and Brian Cole.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the R.A. Dukes Sunday School Class.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home.
