Election results:P>GovernorDemocratic: Roy Barnes and Lewis Massey are in a runoff. Mr. Barnes had 49 percent to Mr. Massey's 28 percent.Republican: Guy Millner had 50 percent to Mike Bowers' 40 percent. Even if the official count shows that Mr. Millner has enough to avoid a runoff, Mr. Bowers may seek a recount.

Lieutenant GovernorDemocratic: Mary Margaret Oliver is in a runoff with Mark Taylor. Ms. Oliver had 29 percent, and Mr. Taylor 21 percent.

Republican: Mitch Skandalakis and Clint Day are in a runoff. Mr. Skandalakis had 36 percent, and Mr. Day 29 percent.

U.S. SenateIn the race to oppose incumbent Republican Paul Coverdell, Michael Coles defeated Jim Boyd. Mr. Coles had 76 percent to Mr. Boyd's 24 percent.

Agriculture CommissionerIn the race to oppose incumbent Democrat Tommy Irvin, Bob Greer defeated Hildred Shumake. Mr. Greer had 81 percent to Mr. Shumake's 19 percent.

Attorney GeneralIn the race to oppose incumbent Democrat Thurbert Baker, David Ralston is in a runoff with Kip Klein. Both Mr. Ralston and Mr. Klein had 27 percent.

Insurance CommissionerIn the race to oppose incumbent Republican John Oxendine, Henrietta Canty defeated Timothy Dunn. Ms. Canty had 55 percent to Dunn's 45 percent.

Labor CommissionerDemocratic: Michael Thurmond will be in a runoff with either Stephen Henson or Richard McGee. Mr. Thurmond had 44 percent, Mr. Henson had 28 percent and Mr. McGee had 28 percent.Republican: John Frank Collins won the nomination with 52 percent. Jeb Fuller had 24 percent, and Richard Millsaps had 23 percent.

Public Service CommissionDemocrat: Anna Hargis defeated Hal Crawford. Ms. Hargis had 52 percent to Mr. Crawford's 48 percent.Republican: Incumbent Robert Baker defeated Dan Carpenter. Mr. Baker had 65 percent to Mr. Carpenter's 35 percent.

Secretary of StateIn the race to oppose Cathy Cox, the Democratic assistant secretary of state, John McCallum defeated Charlie Bailey. Mr. McCallum had 60 percent to Mr. Bailey's 40 percent.

School SuperintendentDemocrat: Joseph Martin defeated Theresa Bey. Mr. Martin had 54 percent to Ms. Bey's 46 percent.Republican: Incumbent Linda Schrenko defeated Frances Roberson. Mrs. Schrenko had 62 percent to Ms. Roberson's 38 percent.

Courts ( nonpartisan)Supreme Court: Incumbent Leah Sears defeated George Weaver and William Aynes. Ms. Sears had 56 percent to Mr. Weaver's 27 percent and Mr. Aynes' 17 percent.Court of Appeals: Incumbent Anne Barnes had 50 percent to Jack Dorsey's 33 percent and Tom Salter's 16 percent.Incumbent Edward Johnson defeated Robert Van Norte. Mr. Johnson had 72 percent to Mr. Van Norte's 28 percent.
