Mr. James Whitaker



STAPLETON, Ga. -- Mr. James A. "Buddy" Whitaker, 82, of 1949 Pughley Road, died Friday, July 10, 1998, at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Silver Run Baptist Church Cemetery, Harlem, with the Rev. Ben Martin officiating.

Mr. Whitaker, a native of McDuffie County, had retired as a farmer. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 229. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include a sister, Ruby W. Phillips, North Augusta.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Bailey, Carl Stapleton, Jay Bullock, Steve Fitzgerald, Howard Wilson and Maron Milburn.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of American Legion Post 229.

Friends may call at the residence of Brian Whitaker, 1952 Pughley Road.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the church cemetery.
