WAYNESBORO, Ga. -- Mr. Ben Steed Story, 74, of 708 E. Seventh St., died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at University Hospital.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Bill Hines and Jim Knight officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mr. Story, a native of Burke County, was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder. He had retired from Georgia Power and as a former partner in Thomson & Story Insurance Agency. He was past president of Waynesboro Exchange Club, board member of the Department of Family and Children Services and a member of Waynesboro Housing Authority. Mr. Story was a member of the Burke County Tax Assessors Board and former director of Waynesboro Country Club. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie McBride Story; four sons, Benjamin Frederick Story Sr., Mount Pleasant, S.C., Samuel Gaines Story and Charles McBride Story, both of Waynesboro, and William Milledge Story, Kennesaw; a daughter, Becky Story Brown, Marietta; his stepmother, Lois Ward Story, Augusta; two brothers, William Fulcher Story, Sedona, Ariz., and Paul Gresham Story, Montrose, Colo.; a sister, Harriet Ann Story, Mineral Point, Wis.; and 11 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Sam Pennington, Floyd Pennington, Everette McBride, Kenny McBride, Joey McBride and Bob Green.
