A water main break in downtown Augusta overnight has prompted Augusta-Richmond County officials to reinstate an outdoor watering ban.
A total ban is in effect for all areas north of Gordon Highway. Utilities Director Max Hicks said the ban includes all residences and businesses, including car washes.
The pipe break at 15th Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard has resulted in a drop of two feet of water in the city's clear wells.
All areas south of Gordon Highway will remain on an odd-even schedule from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.
