Four members were added Wednesday to Georgia Bank & Trust Co. of Augusta's board of directors. They are W. Marshall Brown, Grey B. Murry, James W. Smith Jr. and Edward J. Tarver.
"We are delighted to have these new members join our bank board," bank President and Chief Executive Officer R. Daniel Blanton said. "We welcome our new directors, and we are confident that they will contribute much to our organization."
The new members expand the size of the board to 18 members. Two of the new members replaced positions that became vacant in the past year, Mr. Blanton said.
The new members are:
Mr. Brown, a financial consultant with J.C. Bradford & Co. He was executive vice president of NationsBank Corp. and president of NationsBank Richmond County from 1987 to 1997. He is chairman of the Metro Augusta Chamber of Commerce and holds leadership positions in other organizations.
Mr. Grey, an Augusta native, who is vice president of United Brokerage Co. Inc. He has served on the University Hospital Foundation Board.
Mr. Smith, also an Augusta native, who owns Smitty's Auto Service/Smith Tire Co. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Metro Augusta Chamber of Commerce, the University Hospital Authority and University Research Board. He is founder of Richmond County's Pride and Progress Committee and a member of several other groups.
Mr. Tarver, a partner with the law firm of Hull, Towill, Norman & Barrett. He is a graduate of Augusta State University and the University of Georgia. He is 1998 president-elect of Leadership Georgia and a member of several organizations.
Georgia Bank & Trust is a locally owned bank with seven offices in the Augusta area.
