Victor Gutierrez and Kory DeHann hit home runs in the eighth inning to push the Augusta GreenJackets past the Columbus RedStixx 4-3 in Columbus on Saturday night.
The GreenJackets (24-18) trailed the RedStixx 3-0 going into the top of the eighth inning. But Gutierrez hit a solo shot and DeHann a three-run blast to give Augusta the lead for good.
The win gave the GreenJackets a sweep over Columbus and a 5-1 road trip. Augusta also extended its winning streak to five games.
Left-handed pitcher Tony Bacci picked up the win in relief for the GreenJackets. Bacci entered in relief in the seventh inning, giving up one earned run on three hits and a walk.
Aside from the eighth-inning explosion, Augusta bats were relatively quiet on the night. The GreenJackets were 7-for-33 on the night with no one collecting more than one hit.
RedStixx relief pitcher Richard Negrette got the loss, pitching one inning, while allowing four earned runs on four hits.
Columbus pitcher Rob Vael held Augusta scoreless for seven innings, while the RedStixx built a 3-0 lead. Edgar Cruz hit a two-run homer for Columbus in the second inning.
Augusta returns home Monday to face Savannah at 7:05 p.m. for the start of an eight-game homestand.
