I certainly wouldn't want to depend on TV for weather warnings. I was watching WRDW Channel 12 on Wednesday when it streamed severe thunderstorm warnings for Columbia County until 10 p.m. and Edgefield County until 9:45 p.m. across the bottom of their screen.
I looked at my watch and it was exactly 10:08 p.m.
In essence, the alerts were both already expired when they showed their warning. At that same instant my Weather Alert Radio siren went off. It announced a severe thunderstorm warning for Columbia County until 10:30 p.m. and for Edgefield County until 10:45 p.m. The storm was near Appling at 10:20 p.m. First Alert never televised those new or correct warnings.
I don't understand why it takes so long for the local stations to react. And it's a waste of time to be announcing warnings after they have already expired!
