`General Hospital' cleans up on soapopera awards



UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. -- ABC's General Hospital ran away with a third of the honors, including favorite show, at the recent 14th annual Soap Opera Digest Awards.

With General Hospital winning six awards, All My Children garnering four and One Life to Live earning one, ABC swept the competition at the Feb. 27 awards.

Don Hastings and Kathryn Hays, who play Dr. Bob and Kim Hughes on CBS' As the World Turns, received the Editor's Award. Ms. Hays has been on the show for more than 25 years, and Mr. Hastings has been a cast member for 38 years.

Readers of Soap Opera Digest selected the winners from a list of nominees compiled by the editors.
