Blasts double standard in `pot' cases 011898 - The Augusta Chronicle

A Georgia state senator is caught smuggling marijuana into the country. He says " I feel like one of the Kennedys." He is greeted with hugs and handshakes by his colleagues in the Senate.

A high school student buys one marijuana cigarette which he flushes down the toilet. He is not caught with the evidence, but admits to what he did and faces the consequences. He is kicked out of school.

Shouldn't the kid have received the hugs (and drug rehabilitation), and the senator kicked out of the Senate?

Please tell me the layout department somehow mixed up the endings of these two stories!
