MARIETTA, Ga. AP -- A Cobb County State Court jury on Friday decided not to award any damages in a civil suit involving former Atlanta Braves outfielder Ron Gant.
Connie Mack IV, son of Sen. Connie Mack III, R-Fla., filed suit against Gant in a 1992 bar fight in an Atlanta suburb. Mack claimed that Gant, who played with the St. Louis Cardinals last season, was responsible for a broken ankle and other injuries Mack received in the fight. He sought thousands of dollars in damages and attorneys' fees.
After eight hours of deliberations over two days, the jury found that Gant, who still lives in the Atlanta area, started the fight but was not responsible for the injuries to Mack.
The jury ruled that each side would have to pay its own attorneys' fees.
