In response to the article "Principal rescinds 1,200 suspensions" I felt a need to write.
I fully back the actions taken by the principal. The main problem in our schools today results from parents not backing the actions taken by teachers and principals. These professionals should receive the respect they deserve.
The rule should be understood with parents and their children that, if the child gets into trouble at school, there will be severe consequences taken at home! I would imagine more children would obey their teachers and test scores would increase. It sounds like that high school is a "zoo."
I have been an educator for 30 years. I taught two years in public school before owning and operating Christian schools. We are blessed with a wonderful cooperation between parents, teachers and children. Our children score in the top 10 percent of the nation on achievement tests. The teachers can teach and not spend most of their time disciplining students.
