ATHENS, Ga. -- Freshman forward Jumaine Jones scored 21 points and had 14 rebounds, and No. 22 Georgia capitalized on 22 turnovers to rout Texas 92-74 Friday night.
Georgia scraped by the Longhorns 89-87 in a consolation game of the Coaches vs. Cancer IKON Classic Nov. 12, but the Bulldogs were in control of the rematch after the first seven minutes.
Michael Chadwick scored 20 and G.G. Smith and Ray Harrison each had 17, while Badi Oliver came off the bench to score 10, all in the first half, for Georgia (5-1).
Nnadubn Muoneke led Texas (2-3) with 20 points.
The teams traded the lead seven times early in the first half. Texas led 15-14 61/2 minutes into the game before Oliver's dunk started an 8-point run. Jones then sparked a 16-3 Georgia run with two putbacks, launching the Bulldogs to a 49-31 lead.
Texas scored six points in the last 55 seconds of the half to close the gap to 49-37.
Georgia put the game away early in the second half, again capitalizing on turnovers, including a rare 10-second violation and a Texas pass that sailed all the way across the court into the first row of the bleachers.
