The Military Order of the World Wars will hold its annual massing of the colors ceremony at 2 p.m. Sunday Nov. 9 at Fort Gordon's Alexander Hall on Chamberlain Avenue. Maj. Gen. Michael W. Ackerman, post commander, is the guest speaker.
At 9 a.m., the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home will hold a Veterans Day celebration for its residents in the courtyard of the 15th Street facility. Col. Thomas F. England, Fort Gordon's staff judge advocate, is the guest speaker. The U.S. Army Signal Corps band will play. A drill team from Butler High School and the honor guard from American Legion Post 63 will also participate.
The Augusta Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center honors veterans hospitalized there at a 9 a.m. ceremony at the uptown division off Wrightsboro Road. A chaplain from the VA will speak, and chorus and Junior ROTC students Josey High School will participate.
At 10 a.m., veterans groups and local bands will march down Broad Street for Augusta's annual Veterans' Day parade. The parade ends at the Monument of All Wars at Fourth and Broad Streets. A ceremony will be held there at 11 a.m.
Augusta State University celebrates Veterans Day at 4 p.m. with a special ceremony involving students and other community representatives.

Fort Gordon will honor 22 prisoners of war buried there with a wreath laying ceremony at 1 p.m. German-Italian Cemetery near Gate 2.
