Former Augusta Mayor Ed McIntyre continues to talk about running "for some public office" next year.
But will it be for mayor?
He surely knows a 1998 mayoral run could be painful for the candidate and the community -- and the national media would naturally take notice of an ex-felon trying for a political comeback. After all, his 1984 jury conviction on three counts of extortion -- while mayor -- isn't easily forgotten.
Even though Ed McIntyre's right to run for office will be restored, maybe -- since he seems so driven to run for something -- he'll take advice from friends and at least target a less high-profile public office.
