Ambulance accident

Kimberly Neal, 45, a driver for Rural Metro Ambulance Service, tends to Gloria Pope, 45, after a Tuesday morning accident on Columbia Road. Earlier, Ms. Neal swerved the ambulance she was driving to avoid hitting a 1994 Ford Crown Victoria driven by Michael Manfredi, who turned out of Merchants Village shopping center. The ambulance, with an 82-year-old dialysis patient in the back, struck Ms. Pope's 1995 Mazda head-on, left the roadway and clipped a telephone pole, coming to rest against a pine tree. Ms. Pope was listed in fair condition later at University Hospital.
