Rain only a mild hindrance to action
Rain, rain, rain. All day long. Rain, rain, rain.
At Riverview and Pendleton King parks, there was the Augusta Classic disc golf tournament;
At Martinez, they played the first half of the Commissioners Cup Putt-Putt championship;
At Woodside Plantation in Aiken, high school golf stars met in the Joe Wyatt Memorial Invitational;
All over Augusta and North Augusta, youngsters faced up on a dozen basketball courts in the Augusta-Richmond County Classic;
At Kennesaw, Ga., Augusta State beat defending national champion Kennesaw State in the first of a best-of-3 series for the Peach Belt Conference baseball title;
At Charleston, S.C., Georgia Southern stayed alive in the Southern Conference baseball tournament.
And in Atlanta, the Braves took on San Diego.
Yes, plenty was happening, despite Saturday being a damp, dreary day.
In fact, the only casualty was racing at Augusta Motor Speedway, which was postponed.
There's plenty going on today, too. Disc golf, Putt-Putt and youth basketball continue; Augusta State faces Kennesaw State again; the Southern Conference tournament title game is set and Atlanta and San Diego meet in an afternoon game.
Plus, the Hawks and Pistons go at it at The Omni in Atlanta tonight.
