Thoroughbreds make playoffs



AIKEN - Now it's official.

South Aiken is in; North Augusta is out.

South Aiken's Thoroughbreds galloped to a 39-15 halftime lead over Aiken en route to a 79-52 victory on Friday night.

The victory eliminated North Augusta's Yellow Jackets from making a state playoff appearance, while South Aiken becomes the No. 4 team in the Class AAAA competition.

Defending state champion Lexington heads the pack, followed by Irmo and Orangeburg-Wilkinson.

South Aiken led 12-0 and four minutes passed before the Hornets broke the scoring ice.

Eric Toole led the Thoroughbreds with 21 points. Tito Hickson added 14 and Michael Tyler and Tony Kitchings had 12 each.

Wendell Blocker scored 15 and Vic Fuewell had 14 for Aiken.
