AIKEN - An Aiken accounting and tax practice has merged with a Greenville-based regional accounting firm.
Wade & Company, P.A., a 24-year-old Aiken company, combined with Elliot, Davis & Co., L.L.P., the companies announced this week. Elliot, Davis was established in 1925 in Greenville and has branch offices in Greenwood, Anderson, Columbia, Laurens, Aiken and Augusta.
The merger will bring Elliot, Davis' specialization and international experience to the Wade & Company clientele.
"We do a lot of things at Elliot, Davis, tailoring services to meet the financial industry, automotive, construction, manufacturing and medical support type niches, and what we bring to the table is enhanced expertise in areas like that, including international taxation," said Tim Cherry, an Elliot, Davis tax partner in Aiken. "Now all that is available to Wade & Company clients."
Elliot, Davis' six employees in its 5-year-old Aiken office will join the 18-person Wade & Company staff at the latter's Chesterfield Street office soon, Mr. Cherry said.
No employees will lose their jobs in the merger, Mr. Cherry said, and the combined firm may actually grow soon.
The merger will help Elliot, Davis build its new practice in Augusta. The firm opened a part-time office there in November and will now staff it full time, Mr. Cherry said.
Elliot, Davis is a member of Moore Stephens North America, Inc., a network of independently owned CPA firms with 30 members nationwide. MSNA is an arm of Moore Stephens International Ltd., a multinational accounting and consulting group headquartered in London with 280 offices in 65 countries.
