HOGANSVILLE, Ga. - The Georgia High School Association will decide whether a basketball game between Callaway and LaGrange high schools, which ended prematurely because of fighting in the stands, must be completed.
Saturday night's game was called with 6:24 remaining and Callaway leading 60-31. The GHSA could allow the score to stand.
Four people were arrested after the fighting broke out among fans during halftime and continued through the third quarter.
"I told my players to stay calm, get in the middle of the floor and wait and see what happens," said Callaway coach Terry Hayes.
He said he and LaGrange coach Mike Pauley agreed to call off the game.
"I think some kids were there to create a problem," Pauley said. " .°.°. We were concerned that something worse than punching was going to happen. We moved to the middle of floor to find out what was going on, then made a very quick decision to get to the locker room."
