Re Lisa Wright's Dec. 16 letter, "Blames system for daughter's woes":
Was the system really at fault? Did the tribunal purchase the alcohol for Ms. Wright's daughter and her friends? Did the tribunal make her take a sip at school? If all of these answers are yes, then our young people are in big trouble. Since the answers are no, Ms. Wright should just own up to the fact that her daughter used poor judgment, and deserves the punishment she received. If you are a first time murderer should you not get punished? That's a growing problem in our society, people blaming others for their wrongdoings.
So instead of blaming Columbia County schools, Ms. Wright should talk to her daughter and make her realize she made a mistake, that she should accept the punishment that was handed down to her, and take responsibility.
