Bath, S.C. - Entered into rest on Saturday, December 21, 2002, Miss Irene Mattox of 146 Maple Street, Bath. She was preceded in death by her parents, William T. and Mary Robinson Mattox, her brother, W.C. "Red" Mattox, and her great niece, Rebecca Dees. Surviving are a sister; Helen McDowell of Bath, a niece Mary Dees and her husband, Ron Dees of North Augusta, a nephew, William McDowell and his wife, Lynn McDowell of Charlotte, N.C., and two great nephews; Bill McDowell and his wife, Jennifer McDowell of Charlotte, N.C. and Christopher Dees of North Augusta. Miss Mattox was born in Lancaster, and had retired from the Clearwater Finishing Plant with 25 years of service. She was a member of the Bath First Baptist Church and at the church she was a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class, the Senior Citizens Joy Group, the C.M.H. Missionary Group, and the W.M.U. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 4 PM in the Bath First Baptist Church with the Rev. Herb Sons officiating. Interment: Sunset Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Bath First Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be the Ruth Sunday School Class. Memorials may be made to the Bath First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 240, Bath, SC 29816. Friends may call at the residence or on Sunday from 2 to 3:30 PM at the Hatcher Funeral Home, U.S. Hwy. #1, Langley, SC.
