We know Judge Bernard Mulherin, and we can attest to his character. Here is a little about him that few people know:

Judge Mulherin attended local grammar school and Boys Catholic High School, now Aquinas High School. He graduated from Spring Hill College and the University of Georgia Law School, where he received an L.L.B. degree, cum laude. After graduation, he served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army infantry. After that, he became a special agent for the FBI, during which service he receivd a letter of recognition for bravery from Director J. Edgar Hoover.

Judge Mulherin also is very active in St. Mary's on the Hill Catholic Church. ...

He is the kind of person who looks for ways to do good for his community, not only by serving in lofty positions, but by working in the trenches with those who need help. He spent his entire birthday digging post holes for the fence to go around the Ronald McDonald House playground.

In 1966, he began organizing trips for underprivileged boys to University of Georgia and, later, Georgia Southern University football games. This year marks the program's 38th anniversary. He takes about 100 boys a year. Money for tickets, food, transportation and spending money for each boy was donated, often solely by Judge Mulherin. ...

Judge Mulherin works hard as a senior judge, and under the statute passed by the General Assembly and approved by the governor, He is entitled to be paid. He never seeks or takes anything to which he is not entitled by law.

Let's appreciate what he has done for this community and thank him for it, not let some writer seeking sensationalism write articles based on incomplete research, spread misleading information and tear down the reputation of such a true gentleman as Judge Mulherin.
