Post-retirement work is common

Web posted Saturday, December 18, 2004
| Letter to the Editor

The so-called news articles about Judge Bernard Mulherin on Dec. 5 were an unjustified attack on a man of impeccable character. Sandy Hodson obviously does not approve of how senior judges are used in Georgia. She is entitled to her opinion about the system, but she is not entitled to blame the man for the system. He did not create it.

It is not unusual for a person to be re-employed by a company or government after retirement. It is common. Many retired executives return to their companies in some capacity. Retired teachers and military personnel often do the same.

The writer has chosen to use her dislike for the senior judge system to malign Judge Mulherin. Her articles were inappropriate and unfair.
