Creative Impressions will present its sixth annual Christmas concert, Behold the Star: A Christmas Story, on Dec. 20.

"We are building a story around the birth of Christ. Two of our alumni will play angels who are commenting on the state of the world. The music will answer the angels' worries," said Evelyn Ellis, founder and director of Creative Impressions.

The concert will have music from different genres, including Neo-Renaissance, Christmas, African and contemporary, and will feature an original composition, Ms. Ellis said. There will also be two dance numbers.

"The concert is designed to bring joy and hope. Our music reminds us that no matter how bad things are in the world, God is still in control. This is going to be a celebration of God's power and faithfulness," she said.

Several guests are scheduled to participate in the concert, including conductor Michael Marcades, former choral director at Columbus State University and current minister of music at a Methodist Church in Opelika, Ala.

"Our members are familiar with Dr. Marcades. They have had choral workshops with him and have also performed at his church," Ms. Ellis said.

He will direct two songs they have chosen from his repertoire and two songs from their repertoire, she added.

The Christmas concert will also bring back some familiar faces among Creative Impressions' current 42 members.

"The Christmas Concert is the concert where the kids from past years come back and sing with us. It's like a reunion," she said.

The alumni often spend their fall, Thanksgiving and summer breaks practicing with the group.

"I feel blessed. I feel blessed because it means enough to them to come back and be a part of this," Ms. Ellis said.
