Ex- Japanese bomber now soldier for Christ

I heard of the change in Capt. Mitsuo Fuchida's life and brought him from Seattle, Wash., to Augusta. He was interviewed on WJBF-TV (Channel 6) and spoke to 1,000 people that evening at Woodlawn Baptist Church.

On Dec. 7, 1941, Capt. Mitsuo Fuchida led the attack on Pearl Harbor but was won to faith in the Lord Jesus by the conversion testimony of Jacob DeShazer, bombardier for Gen. Jimmy Doolittle's bombing raid on Tokyo, April 1942.

Mr. DeShazer came to faith in the Lord through a Bible given to him while a prisoner of the Japanese in occupied China. He wrote a pamphlet titled, "I was a prisoner of Japan," which told of his tortures and how the Bible led to his conversion.

Capt. Fuchida read the pamphlet, found a Bible, read to Luke 23 and asked the Lord to be his savior. He could not hate Americans anymore.

He was recommended by several admirals and Gen. Douglas MacArthur as a "completely changed man." He went across the world telling of his conversion to Jesus. He was invited to give his testimony on WSB-TV in Atlanta.

Dr. James L. Adkins, Augusta
