Mrs. Erma Burkhalter

VARNVILLE, S.C. - Mrs. Erma Baker Burkhalter, long time Augusta resident, entered into rest on December 3, 2001, at Hampton Medical Center, Varnville. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2001, at 3 p.m. from Elliott Sons Telfair Street Chapel, with the Reverend Kevin Still and Reverend Frank Thigpen officiating. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening at the funeral home from from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Active pallbearers will be Larry Hall Sr., Jim Campbell, Bennie Ramos, Steve Moore, Randy Reese, Vic Herrin. Mrs. Burkhalter, a native of Lincolnton, has been a resident of Augusta for over 50 years. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and was retired from King Mill. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David E. Burkhalter Sr. and she is survived by her son, David E. Burkhalter Jr., Valdosta, Ga.; daughters, Faye Watkins, Blythe, Ga., Joyce Litchfield, Ruffin; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
