STAPLETON, Ga. - Joe D. Pennington (papa), 82, of Stapleton, entered into rest on December 1. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 4 at 2 p.m. at James Funeral Home, Wrens, Ga. The Reverend Donnie Chapman officiating. Interment will follow in Stapleton Memorial Gardens. Joe was the beloved son of the late Marvin and Mammie Poole Pennington. He was a World War II veteran and a retired farmer and a life long resident of Jefferson County. Mr. Pennington is survived by his wife, Evelyn Pennington. He was the beloved father of three daughters, Donna Kitchens, Linda Irby, both of Stapleton, Becky Irwin of Atlanta; three sons, Aubrey Pennington of Swainsboro, Ricky Pennington of North Augusta, S.C., Bobby Pennington of Wrens; brother, Walter Pennington, Clearwater, S.C.; sister, Lois Arrington, Guyton, Ga.; 14 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren. Pallbearers are Gene Powell, Joe Rabun, Billy Kitchens, Lee Woods, Steve Powell, Mark Haythorn. Visitation will be this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at James Funeral Home, Wrens, Ga.
