Reviewing and previewing college football:

WHO'S HOT

Graham Harrell: The Texas Tech gunslinger has played his way into Heisman Trophy talk with his performances in wins over Texas and Oklahoma State the past two weeks. Harrell is leading the nation with 4,077 passing yards, and he's thrown 36 touchdowns and just five interceptions.

WHO'S NOT

Vanderbilt: After its 5-0 start, Vanderbilt has dropped four in a row. Surely, the Commodores will win one of their final three against Kentucky, Tennessee or Wake Forest for bowl eligibility.

THEY'VE PAID THEIR DUES

Boise State has quietly reeled off nine consecutive wins and is No. 9 in the Bowl Championship Series standings. If Oklahoma fails to win the Big 12, they could find themselves facing Boise State in a rematch of the 2007 Fiesta Bowl, a Broncos' win.

RANKING THE BIG FOUR

1. Georgia (8-2, 5-2 Southeastern Conference). Freshman wide receiver A.J. Green needs 199 more yards to set a school record for receiving yardage in a season.

2. South Carolina (7-3, 4-3 SEC). Gamecocks have improved, but linebacker Jasper Brinkley (41 tackles, 11/2 sacks) has yet to come close to his 2006 numbers. The Thomson grad must be feeling the effects of his 2007 knee injury.

3. Georgia Tech (7-3, 4-3 Atlantic Coast Conference). Disappointing loss at North Carolina eliminated the Yellow Jackets from the ACC title game race. The defeat is a minor setback for a team that could finish with 10 wins.

4. Clemson (4-5, 2-4 ACC). Throwing out some potential coaching candidates: Texas Tech coach Mike Leach, East Carolina coach Skip Holtz and Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp.

WHAT'S NEXT

- Duke at Clemson, noon (WRDW-My12)

- Georgia at Auburn, 12:30 p.m. (Fox-Ch. 54)

- Georgia Southern at Furman, 3 p.m. (SportSouth)

- South Carolina at Florida, 3:30 p.m. (CBS-Ch. 12)

THIS WEEK'S STORY LINES

Clemson: With Virginia and South Carolina looming, Tigers must beat the Blue Devils to have any shot at making a bowl game.

Georgia: Auburn leads the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry, 53-50-8.

Georgia Tech: Resting for a two-game finale against Miami and Georgia.

South Carolina: Gamecocks seeking their first win at the Swamp and trying to avenge 2006 loss.
