Bush's tax rebate a payoff to rich

Would someone please explain the reasoning behind President George Bush's tax rebate earlier this year?

The question I pose is how come he wanted to make the rich richer and the poor poorer? Wait, isn't he rich?

OK, so he wanted to give back some money to the hard-working people who earned it (98 percent of the tax rebate went to the richest 2 percent of the population, and just how many rich people do you know that actually work?).

"Meanwhile there are public schools in our country that cannot even afford to employ teachers - much less competent ones.

The government says that giving money back to taxpayers will stimulate our economy, because they will go out and buy lots of things with it.

Ask yourself these questions: If a rich person received a large check in the mail, is that person more likely to spend it or save it? If a poor person gets a check in the mail, will that person spend it or save it?

The answers are save and spend - in that order, so obviously Bush's tax rebate was blatant sucking up to the millionaires/billionaires who elected him or will help him to get re-elected next term.

I got so excited over that check I was getting in the mail for $3.50. How insulting.
