It's a green store, but that's not because of the wall color.
The Green Way Store, a new retailer offering "green" cleaning supplies and other products, opened Monday at 4336 Washington Road.
The store is a venture by Kamo Manufacturing Inc., an Augusta janitorial supply and cleaning company, which recently began using eco-friendly products at its business.
The owners wanted to offer the same options to the community, said Kim Strickland, Kamo's vice president.
"This is where our future is headed. Many people want to go green, but they don't know how," she said.
Ms. Strickland said Kamo promotes the "three R's of green cleaning": reducing, reusing and recycling.
Environmentally friendly products at the Green Way store include cleaning chemicals, biodegradable cups, napkins, energy-saving light bulbs, and toilet paper made from recycled paper.
The store also sells SEBO, a line of vacuum cleaners with a hospital-grade filtration system designed to help people with allergies or asthma.
For customers who are not ready to fully go green, the store will continue to sell Kamo's traditional cleaning products, which are also sold at its Reynolds Street store.
The store's 2,000-square-foot building was previously occupied by The Bagel Factory.
Kamo's owners have completely renovated the building so they could provide a store for customers who live in Columbia County.
"We're using our existing staff now, but it could definitely expand maybe later next year," Ms. Strickland said.
The Green Way Store is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
