AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Wardell Lindsey Philpot, Sr. of Kensington Drive, W., entered into rest Monday, October 31, 2005 at St. Joseph Hospital. Funeral service will be held Thursday, November 3, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. at Crawford Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Douglas Mazyck officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Mr. Philpot, a native of McCormick County, lived in Columbia County many years before moving to Augusta 40 years ago. He was a 1961 graduate of Blanchard High School. After 30 years of service, he retired from Sweetheart Cup Company. He was a member of Crawford Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, trustee board member and former choir member. Preceding him death were his parents, James and Mary Philpot and two brothers, Cardell Philpot and James Philpot, Jr. Survivors are his wife, Dorothy Philpot; six sons, Wadell Lindsey Philpot, Jr., Atlanta, Kevin Philpot, Tyrone Philpot, Marvin Dore, New Ellenton, S.C., Joaquin (Monica) Hobbs, Augusta, Octavius (Tonya) Hobbs, Martinez; devoted sisters, Lillie Smiley, Augusta, Matilda Philpot, Ivella Philpot, Martinez; seven grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carrie Philpot, Atlanta, Barbara Hammonds, Fayetteville, N.C., Mary (Irving) Harris, Jerry (Henrietta) Bennett, Hephzibah, Edward (Lisa) Bennett, Martinez, Author (Delois) Bennett, Evans, Michael (Lori) Bennett, Augusta; devoted niece, Candance Smiley, Augusta; devoted nephew, James Philpot, Jr., Atlanta; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
