LAST WEEK: Cole had 11 carries for 147 yards and touchdown runs of 11, 18 and 57 yards in a 57-21 win against Griffin Christian. He caught one pass for 44 yards.
But this honor was cemented by his school-record 18 tackles. The stellar baseball player also added a sack to his iron man effort for the night.
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING: "James is the hardest worker I've had in the weight room and on the field. If he does something wrong for discipline he will do double what I ask him. He's accepting my punishment and punishing himself. He has sheer determination and is as strong as an ox. He power cleans 220 pounds and squats 400 pounds. He's just a naturally gifted athlete. He's just going to lower his head and run like he's 240 pounds.

COLE ON HIS GAME: "I like to play defense because I get to hit people. You can't do that in baseball unless you are pitching. ... Our defensive line also was motivated to do better. They helped me that night. They got good push and forced runners to the outside where I play. I was able to run right in there and meet them. Everybody came up congratulating me after the game, but I want to congratulate my team. I couldn't do what I did without them. We're not a one-man team or anything."
