LAST WEEK: Nicely hauled in what might be the biggest catch in Evans team history in the past 20 years. His 17-yard reception of a Kevin Millward pass with 1:23 left to play provided the difference in a 10-7 win over Statesboro last Friday. It marked the first time the Knights had beaten the Blue Devils in 10 tries. He finished the game with seven catches for 111 yards and one touchdown. It was his second consecutive 100-yard receiving game.
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING: "He's a good leader. He'd be the first to say he wouldn't have got a chance at that catch without his quarterback or offensive line. He knows his defensive line did a super job holding back Statesboro's offense to give us a chance to win. He's got the right attitude to win with. He knows some nights he'll get seven catches and others he'll have one catch. He's not worried who gets what. Our offense is designed to get the ball to the open person and not any one player. Jonathan's a big guy. But he knows he's not bigger than any other player on our team."
- Evans coach Marty Jackson
NICELY ON HIS GAME: "It felt good to bring in that pass. Our team is determined not to lose. That catch was worth every drop of sweat, every gasser we run and every weight I've lifted. ... That play was improvised. I was on the back side of that play. I was supposed to run a post. But I saw Kevin scramble so I just followed him and he delivered a really good ball."
