An office furniture store on River Watch Parkway will be closed by the end of the month.
Ivan Allen Workspace will no longer have a sales office in Augusta. The company will run operations out of its Atlanta headquarters, said president Louise Allen.
Company spokeswoman Judy Talley said the Ivan Allen has been closing other smaller offices, Albany, Ga., for example, to serve clients out of the main office.
Ms. Talley said there were six full-time and four part-time employees in Augusta; two of the full-time employees will be retained in Atlanta.
Ivan Allen sells office furniture and also provides architectural and interior-design assistance. It first opened in Augusta in 1954.
"As difficult as it is to make tough decisions, we must continue to explore new ways to serve our clients effectively and position Ivan Allen Workspace to focus on markets that offer the greatest growth potential for the future," Ms. Allen said in a statement.
The Augusta office officially closed on Sept. 30, but a transition team will remain for another 30 days.
The company will seek to end its lease at 3021 River Watch Parkway and will close a small warehouse in Augusta, Ms. Talley said.
