WAGENER-SALLEY 23, FOX CREEK 7

PLAY OF THE GAME: Wagener-Salley quarterback Dontrall Salley lofted a 13-yard pass to Justin Scott, who had gotten behind defender E.J. Bijur, for the go-ahead score to make it 14-7 in the second quarter.

WHY WAGENER-SALLEY WON: The War Eagles (2-1 in Region 4-A, 3-5 overall) exploited three Fox Creek turnovers for touchdowns.

WHY FOX CREEK LOST: The Predators (0--3, 0-8) took an early 7-0 lead on a 3-yard run by Jeremy Hargis, but seven turnovers were their downfall.

STAR OF THE GAME: Salley, a sophomore starting his first game of the season, came up big, tossing three TD passes.

QUOTABLE: "We had to get this one tonight. We're loaded with freshmen and sophomores (only one senior)." - Wagener-Salley coach Ross Smith

WHAT'S NEXT: Fox Creek visits Ridge Spring-Monetta. Wagener-Salley is at Calhoun County.
