Kick! Kick! Punch! BAM! Ben 10 has once again defeated his arch-enemy, Vilgax. Or how about Naruto, along with his millions of clones, forcing his opponent to surrender?
Ben 10: Alien Force and Naruto are two television shows that target children and are loaded with violence. I believe that children who watch these shows or play the video games associated with them tend to be more aggressive in their playtime, and lose respect for life.
While these shows and games can be entertaining, they have a strong aftereffect. Toy companies make and sell items from these shows, such as the Omnitrix Watch from Ben 10 and daggers and other blades from Naruto .
Children watch these shows and get it into their minds that maybe, just maybe, they can be like a certain character, and then they or a friend get hurt or killed trying to perform stunts.
For example, recently a 10-year-old boy was playing Naruto in his backyard with several other children and he thought that he was a "Sand Master." Inspired by the show, he was buried in the sandbox by friends, and he suffocated.
Video games such as Naruto: Ultimate Ninja are based off of the show. Children will watch the shows, play the video game and start to believe they are that character. When an active-minded child sees a cool stunt or a huge explosion in his favorite cartoon, sooner or later he is bound to attempt them. And when they do, the cartoons aren't to blame; the parents are for allowing their children to watch these violent shows.
Instead of sitting in front of a television playing these games and watching these shows, children and teens should be outside or doing other recreational activities. Parents should encourage their children to do so.
