Family: Husband, Randy; son, Dawson, 6

Occupation: Manager of accounting, Jefferson Energy Cooperative

Diagnosed: March 12

What helped: I was blessed with wonderful doctors. I could not have made it through this first of all without my Jesus by my side. Second, I have a wonderful and supportive husband. My family and friends were also there for me. I do not see how you can make it through something like this without all three.

Outlook: I was very blessed that I was diagnosed early. My breast cancer was Stage I. The chemo and radiation treatment were precautionary. My prognosis is very good. This experience has changed me so much. I will never be the same. You learn to love life and enjoy every moment. This has also been a very humbling experience for me. Just when you start to feel tired or like you can't go on another day, someone crosses your path who is taking these treatments just to live. You then realize how blessed you really are. I pray that what the doctors learn during my treatments will help someone in the future not to have to go through this.

Advice: If you are ever diagnosed with breast cancer, find a good doctor. Ask around. Ask plenty of questions and do some research on your own. Remember, you are not alone in this process. Let people help! Fight! You can beat this.

Personal: I never realized how strong I really was until I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was determined I was not going to let this get the best of me. I was going to fight. I was knocked down a few times, but I got back up. During my treatments, I lost my mom and then I lost a sister-in-law to ovarian cancer. That was when I really had to hold on to my faith.
