A sold-out stadium with two ranked teams playing a big South-eastern Conference game. Can this really be Vanderbilt?
The No. 19 Commodores will try to go 5-0 for the first time since World War II when they face No. 13 Auburn today.
The last time Vanderbilt was in the AP Top 25 was 1984.
On a campus best known for academics, coach Bobby Johnson has been talking up the Auburn game.
He said he's felt an atypical buzz of excitement for the football team at the SEC's smallest and only private school.
TENNESSEE: Will start Nick Stephens at quarterback today against Northern Illinois.
Stephens was selected Friday to replace starter Jonathan Crompton after coach Phillip Fulmer opened up the position. Crompton completed only eight of 23 passes for 67 yards in the Vols' 14-12 loss to Auburn.
Stephens, a redshirt sophomore, has attempted only two passes in his college career.
MISSOURI: The fourth-ranked Tigers (4-0) have a long history of flopping in Lincoln against Nebraska (3-1), but this year they seem to have a team that can win here for the first time since 1978.
Quarterback Chase Daniel torched Nebraska for 401 yards passing in last year's 41-6 win in Columbia.
Daniel is off to his best start in his three years as the starter. He's completing 75.9 percent of his passes and has thrown 12 touchdowns and one interception.
MIAMI: Linebacker Colin McCarthy will not play today against archrival Florida State because of a shoulder injury that may require surgery.
WISCONSIN: The school's marching band has been suspended while allegations of hazing, alcohol abuse and sexual misconduct are investigated.
