Godfather gears up for weekend show

The Godfather of Soul, James Brown, is rehearsing this week at the Imperial Theatre and will perform Saturday night at Wild Adventures Theme Park in Valdosta, Ga.
On Wednesday afternoon, Mr. Brown was dancing with his backup singers, the Bittersweets - Sheila Wheat, Kelly Jarrell and Candice Hurst - at the theater in downtown Augusta.
Mr. Brown has been touring in America and Europe this summer with stops in Monte Carlo, France and the United Kingdom, according to funky-stuff.com, a Web site dedicated to several musicians.
The Beech Island resident will tour through the end of the year, with a Dec. 31 performance in Honolulu.
