A 34-year-old woman was shot to death outside her south Richmond County home this morning, officials said.

Richmond County Coroner Grover Tuten identified the woman as Daphne Jenkins Foster, of the 1800 block of Kohosh Court.

Mr. Tuten said Ms. Foster had been shot numerous times "all over" her body with a pistol just before 8:30 a.m. while standing on her porch.

Emergency workers reportedly took her to Medical College of Georgia Hospital, where she died in the emergency room about an hour after her attack, the coroner said.

In describing her injuries, Mr. Tuten would say only that more than three bullets had hit her, mainly in the upper torso.

An autopsy will be performed this afternoon in Augusta to determine the exact cause of her death, but Mr. Tuten said it seems she died of extreme blood loss.

Neighbors said the woman had lived in the cul-de-sac off Old Waynesboro Road for less than a year.
