Developments overseas in aftermath of terrorist attacks

Overseas developments Monday related to the investigation of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks:

- In Italy, police arrested five Afghans near the U.S. Embassy to the Vatican as part of intensified security in the aftermath of the terror attacks.

- In Switzerland, officials approved a U.S. request for assistance in the investigation into the terror attacks on New York and Washington.

- In Britain, a woman who took flying lessons alongside one of the suspected hijackers, Mohamed Atta, said Monday that he tried to pass himself off as an Arab prince.

- In Venezuela, the country's banking superintendent was investigating whether 11 suspected members of Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida terrorist network hold accounts in the country.

- In Nigeria, authorities intensified efforts to identify groups or individuals associated with bin Laden and possible links between the suspected terrorist and the country's recent sectarian violence.
