It's better to tune out sometimes

OK, radio fans, we're back. The last song you heard before our public service announcement for acid reflux was Simon & Garfunkel's The Sounds of Silence, another blast from the past right here on your FM home -- WEAK Radio, Sasquatch 108.7, where nothing is bigger than the never-ending stack of tunes we deliver straight to your ear.

Recorded jingle: "WEAK Raaaadio!"

You've been listening to the area's only truly nonstop-action music machine. Stay with me, Unstoppable Steve, the Hardest-working DJ in Show Business, as we play nothing but the hits while the other guys clutter their airwaves with commercials, talk, weather and news.

Coming up next, we have that great song about the day the music died, American Pie. But first, let's try to give away some tickets to this week's big game. Who is that on the line?

Caller: "Hey, Steve, it's Junior. You rock, man! Did I win?"

That depends, Junior. All you have to do is name the last three songs we played today.

Caller: "Uh, I heard The Sounds of Silence about half an hour ago in the car. Before that, I was mowing the yard all morning, so I might have missed a song or two. Give me a clue."

Sorry, Junior, but you are clueless. We'll take another call in an hour or so to see if anybody has been paying attention.

In the meantime, you're listening to WEAK Radio, where the hits just keep on coming -- 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Why, they invented "24/7" just to describe our music format.

Where's the beef? It's right here! We give you all songs and no filler. All day, and all of the night, we play you the hits from the '50s, '60s, '80s, '70s ... no, wait. That's the '70s first, then the '80s. I always get that mixed up.

Anyway, let's continue: the '90s and the Oh-Ohs, or whatever you call the decade we're in. I call it the Music Decade, because it sounds like 10 years of songs anytime you tune in to 108.7.

"WEAK Raaaadio!"

Right now, we are going to keep on keeping on with our uninterrupted, commercial-free block of hits. We've got Becky-Lou on the phone to tell us her favorite radio station.

Caller: "WEAK Radio, Steve!"

Right you are, Becky-Lou. What can we do for you today?

Caller: "I was wondering if you'd play Rock Around the Clock and dedicate it to Tater?"

Ooooh, sorry, Beckster, but you caught us as we start our Lunchtime Loudness Lineup, where we play nothing but ear-splitting metal for an hour, with no chatter, no way, no how! I'm sure Tater will understand. Bye!

OK, listeners, you're tuned in to the Mighty Sasquatch, 108.7 on your dial -- ("WEAK Raaaadio!" ) -- where we play the classics you teethed on, the favorites you skipped school to hear, the tunes you wanted played at your wedding but couldn't because your new mother-in-law hired a singer who knew nothing but the Carpenters.

We give you the songs you love, the songs you love to hate, the songs that get into your skull, the ones you're still humming when you go to bed and when you wake up the next day. Other stations give you static, but we give you music.

So, wherever you are, music lovers, crank up the volume, kick back and I guarantee you that everything you hear is WEAK!

"WEAK Raaaadio!"
