A lecture with three-time Pulitzer Prize winner Thomas Friedman will be broadcast at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Augusta Jewish Community Center, 898 Weinberger Way in Evans.
The series, Life From NYC, simulcasts talks from a range of speakers. This Sunday's event features Mr. Friedman, The New York Times' foreign affairs columnist, on "Geo-Greenism," a national strategy to address climate change.
Upcoming talks will feature Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel, former New York City Mayor Ed Koch, and The Weekly Standard founder William Kristol.

Women's conference
On Saturday, Sept. 20, Curtis Baptist Church will stage a conference focused on a biblical understanding of depression and other emotional issues women face.
Speakers include Dr. Ron Eaker, a local obstetrics and gynecology physician, Rhonda Huff, who holds degrees in psychology from Liberty University and counseling from Augusta State University; and Jan Boulineau, who leads area recovery support groups.
The event costs $7 at the door ,or $5 if registered by Friday. The conference is from 9 a.m. to noon; bagels and coffee will be served.

Health workshops
Chronic illness will be the subject of weekly health classes that start Friday at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ on the corner of Seventh and Greene streets.
Living Well Workshops classes providing pointers for dealing with chronic illness, will be led by Monique Hillman, the health and wellness coordinator for the CSRA Regional Development Center.
Ms. Hillman, a registered nurse, will discuss strategies to improve strength, flexibility and endurance and tips for communicating with family, friends and health professionals.
There is no fee, but a related workbook and CD can be bought. The first workshop will be in First Christian's fellowship hall from noon to 2:30 p.m. Friday.
