Praises high animal adoption standards
Web posted September 12, 2000 Have a thought? Go to the @ugusta Forums.
Editor, The Chronicle
In response to Linda Y. Evans Sept. 3 letter, ``Cat adoption standards steep,'' I applaud the Columbia County Humane Society for its honesty in turning down Mrs. Evans' request to adopt kittens. After all, these selfless, animal-loving people have kept many of the animals in their own homes and know their temperament. They are only looking after the animal's best interest. They don't want the animals to end up in the wrong home and isn't that what their job should be?
I too was turned down by them when they told me that the kitten we wanted would not be good with children. I appreciated their honesty and genuine concern for the animals. Thank you to all the wonderful, caring animal lovers who work as volunteers for the humane society.
Patty Ridgway, Martinez
