Evans High School
From Staff Reports
Friday, September 05, 2008

NAME: Jonathan Finch

SCHOOL: Evans

CLASSIFICATION: Junior

POSITION: Running back

HT./WT.: 5-9, 175

LAST WEEK

Finch carried the ball 18 times for a career-high 232 yards. In a 7-0 win at Greenbrier, he scored the only touchdown on a 40-yard run in the fourth quarter to help Evans win its sixth consecutive game over teams from the area.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING

"Jonathan's got good vision ... I think he's seeing holes better. Last year, we were worried about pitching him the balls, but he worked hard constantly catching passes after practice. Now, his hands are fine and he caught a pass (for 5 yards)."

-- Evans coach Marty Jackson

FINCH ON FINCH

"(The offensive line) just tried to open up a good hole to run through so I could use my speed ... (Greenbrier) came and played competitive. And they showed good sportsmanship. I just thank them for being such good competitors."
